It took 37 years for Ken to figure out what he wanted to be "when he grew up." At first the idea of being an Admiral and sailing the seas sounded exciting, so he attended Annapolis Naval Academy and became a jet pilot in the navy. After the realities of military life set in (11 years worth) he jumped ship and headed back to school for his MBA at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School. He was hired by GE, and later AT&T, for their corporate marketing departments.
Then it happened! In 1994, God told him to become a pastor of a tiny, struggling Vineyard church plant. His wife Kathy agreed, but said, "don't quit your day job." A year later, with attendance already at 150 weekly, he quit his day job (yes Kathy said it was ok) and has never looked back. He and Kathy have been married over 28 years, and are the proud parents of Carol, Brian, and Joel. Ken longs for that glorious day when the last college bill will be paid.
Ken's Goal: To live a life of radical and wholehearted commitment to Jesus Christ.
Ken's Declaration (borrowed from "Angel Stadium Declaration")
I will live the rest of my life serving God's purposes with God's people on God's planet for God's glory. I will use my life to celebrate his presence, cultivate his character, participate in his family, demonstrate his love, and communicate his Word.
Since my past has been forgiven, and I have a purpose for living and a home awaiting in heaven, I refuse to waste any more time or energy on shallow living, petty thinking, trivial talking, thoughtless doing, useless regretting, hurtful resenting, or faithless worrying. Instead I will magnify God, grow to maturity, serve in ministry, and fulfill my mission in the membership of his family.
Because this life is preparation for the next, I will value worship over wealth, "we" over "me," character over comfort, service over status, and people over possessions, position, and pleasures. I know what matters most and I'll give it all I've got. I'll do the best I can with what I have for Jesus Christ today.
I won't be captivated by culture, manipulated by critics, motivated by praise, frustrated by problems, debilitated by temptation, or intimidated by the devil. I'll keep running my race with my eyes on the goal, not the sidelines or those running by me. When times get tough and I get tired, I won't back up, back off, back down, back out, or backslide. I'll just keep moving forward by God's grace. I'm Spirit-led, purpose-driven, and mission-focused, so I cannot be bought, I will not be compromised, and I shall not quit until I finish the race.
I'm a trophy of God's amazing grace so I will be gracious to everyone, grateful for every day, and generous with everything that God entrusts to me.
To my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I say: However, whenever, wherever, and whatever you ask me to do, my answer in advance is yes! Wherever you lead and whatever the cost, I'm ready. Anytime. Anywhere. Any way. Whatever it takes Lord; whatever it takes! I want to be used by you in such a way that on that final day I'll hear you say, "Well done, thou good and faithful one. Come on in, and let the eternal party begin!"
Greg Hull - Executive & Worship Pastor email Greg
Greg has been a part of our church for many years; he started leading worship during our main services, then a few years later came on staff as Executive Pastor. He and his wife, Susan, who is one of our Elders, also have a vested interest in groups: they lead a small group in their home, a married couples group, and Greg leads our Men's Ministry.
Greg graduated in 1983 from the University of Notre Dame and was a lawyer in a private firm from '83 until 2008, when he left to become a Butler County Magistrate. When you add that career on top of all he does for God and this church, its amazing that Greg meets it all with a very comical spirit that can entertain the staff at anytime, appropriate or not.
Greg and Susan have been joyfully married 20 years, come this September. Their daughter, Jacquelyn, is attending University of Cincinnati, and their son Jimmy will be attending Ohio State.
